At the beginning of each year, we like to take a little time out to reflect on the direction of our art and our business. It’s an important mile-marker for us so we can set goals before the rush of wedding season. Of course we live in Houston so the wedding season is nearly year round! Still, the slight lull of January is a welcome breather for us and our business. Last year had a really tough start for us as we unexpectedly lost Amir’s beloved father, Moe, over Christmas. It truly broke our hearts and took the wind out of our sails for a while. Things that we wanted to do and to celebrate kept getting pushed back and just like that, 2015 was over.
So before we get too far along into 2016, we will be sharing some honors and favorite wedding images from the past couple years. The first share, as wonderful as it is, comes with a bit of sadness. Last year, former Rangefinder editor-in-chief and industry icon, Bill Hurter, released his final book, The World’s Top Wedding Photographers: Ten Top Photographers Share the Secrets Behind Their Incredible Images. I was so blown away when Bill asked me to be among his ten featured photographers. Just months after the book release, we all received the devastating news that Bill had passed away. I never got to meet Bill in person but I was really looking forward to thanking him for the time and energy he poured into this beautiful book that I am so proud to be a part of. He was a legend and will be missed by so many. You can read more about Bill’s journey HERE and find a number of his books available to purchase on Amazon.
