I first met Joel and his son Jackson a few years ago during a portrait session in Houston. I fell in love with their little family and was thrilled when Joel called me to take pictures for them again the following year in Galveston. This time I got to meet Joel’s partner Charles too. It has been awesome getting to know each of them through our sessions and I felt honored when Joel and Charles asked me to photograph their wedding in Los Angeles. But after buying a house and getting ready for their big move to Chicago, Joel and Charles opted for a more intimate ceremony in Connecticut. Charles coordinated with me to come out and capture their small wedding and surprised Joel with the news. I admit, it was fun being “the big surprise”. We started in New York City and made our way by train to New Canaan, which is one of the most charming towns I’ve ever been to in the U.S. It was a beautiful little ceremony and I felt privileged to be a part of it. I don’t think these two could be any happier and it is so evident that Jackson is over the moon to have Charles in the family. Below are a few favorites from the day. Enjoy!
